Ranjha..

"...heer nu lagye khere ...ranjhe reh gaye majaha char de"(heer was married ..and ranjha was left grazing the cattles...)the etrnal love story "Heer Ranjha"

In modern times where every girl considers herself  Heer( the epic beauty) ..and boys as ranjhe..( dude of all times)
the reason I picked up this topic...every other guy you talk to behave like ranjha...when their love turns sour..
recently I was talking to one of my online friends who was very upset;tho this is not the first time I heard this....I am surprised how one sided love plays its role ....and then blame the girls for not being loyal...I mean if you have guts why not ask her directly so that you know the answer rather then sulking ...or like slow poisoning your mind against the poor girl who never admitted she was in love ....
 talking of all the Heer's ...of modern times they change with time even if it was a stable relationship...lured by money or looks ..girls change with season too....which emotionally destroys the other partner....and they behave exactly like ranjha's..dirty clothes,no shave..no dressing sense ,lost in thoughts and life on edge!!
.....its  a known fact ,if  love is not given a marital status...anything is bound to happen...its like hit and trial method!even after marriage there are chances of Adultery or cheating but at least there is some legal document or parents or relatives that might help...
.....if she opted out of this ,then you move on ,otherwise its like hell ..life is to move.. and our xperiences makes us wiser...
to be ranjha or behave like one is very simple ....but to be poised and calm not reacting but moving to wards a better life partner is  something more constructive...
God Bless!!

You are very correct. A live in relationship has nothing to hold you together, no commitment, yet it is almost like being married to that person, but without any kind of responsibility. Anybody can leave when got bored, there are no strings attached. I can't understand why people go in for such relationship knowing very well they can hurt each other and cause a lot of mental trauma for each other.
I wish this one thing that Indians would refrain from aping the west.

I agree and disagree in parts.
For role models as Heer and Ranjhe in the current age? Its wrong, The world has changed, the circumstances changed.
For one the choices are many, the feeling different. The reasons for love now different. We are more practical.
Loyality - the meaning has changed. Does thinking, being with some one else, when in stable or unstable relationship be termed as unloyal? Its the age of you sample, you tasted and then you decide on the quality. The initial quality is not enough, the quality has to be persistent and through out, that is where retests and re tastes happen. You have to work hard and show you are loyal, day in and out, if you do not you cannot accuse the other of dis loyality.
Sulking - Its a way to show that you carve for attention. But in todays world to lay your life down sulking is foolish. Show the feeling if there is some one to receive it, else deal with it.
Money, looks - they play a big role, love takes a secondary role. Todays age realizes that, just love is not sufficient. More things are need to make a couple relationship work. Calculations done, and then one discards the other, or goes ahead with some risk.
Emotional destruction and change - Yes its a part and parcel of todays world. If one is not up to the expectations, then things change. With the lures many, the trigger for a change can come any time. Being practical means to take the change in stride, and move ahead.

For the quote .. A girl, who is getting married with a guy who she has been around for a couple of years says - I am giving it a try, will see for six months, if it works around fine, else i am not going to be destroying his life for the whole of his life.
Marriage is about seeing a person, in and out every moment, expected or unexpected and if you are not sure of him/her better leave than screw yourself or your partner.

Wow!!! U struck a chord with my feelings...and well in my case I am not that filmy to behave like Ranjha,rather everyday I dress up nicely wear some nice perfume, go to college and every other place, in a hope to find another Heer but in the back of mind I always wish "kash wo(my ex) wapis aa jaye", and this makes life miserable... However,'moving on'- is easier said than done, but I know life is much more beyond this and there are people who are far more important than any shitty gal who left me for some other guy...

as Robert Frost has said---I can sum up everything in three words I have learnt form this life--

'Life goes on'...
Come what may.

@bikram...So funny..I jus quoted one
stanza...you have a whole bibliography ......
....ha haaaa..Modern ranjhas and heers...
...love evaporates..after seeing big bucks..modern heer loves fancy stuff!!lol
I just believe in true love and relationship...may be the reason I and all of my cousins have been very stable and with same guy for yrs...and about getting in live..in relation ships or one night stands...its nothing but another form of adultery.....
its cheap!!
about my friend...he was in love wid a girl who never reciprocated!!
whose fault it is??

hmmm....I think no body understands those historic love stories at all....nowadays we accept them as we wanted them to be...

The sufism in the story has lost its touch...

To find a love...one must go through so many trials and there are only few who can make through these trials...

Look at Heer Ranjha...Laila Majnu...Shireen Farhad...Sassi Pannu...how many of them actually pass the exam?

Dying does not seize the love...

And here people complain about love and devotion...

hmm...well...its a big bg world and has so many variety of human....

@UMa..lol...Ranjha come beggar...

@Rama...yes dear I agree...its just like try and leave it ..in live-in relationship...
yes indian culture is more stable and we should be in our limits!!

@AS..Choices for love?? Dude...these kind of hit and trial methods nobody can ever settle!!
**loyalty is from heart..from love from upbringing and values...not peer pressures!
**Sulking is nothing but repenting the past!
**Money..yes I agree has to enough to make relationship work!!
**emotional destruction ..is nothing but showing your resentment to the world.
**I believe marriage is MUST..in and out you see each other and accept each other as they are....since its a binding of nuptial knot...which has some legal bindings too...
**Destroy a person..when you get into habit of changing...which is not possible frequently in marriage..
thanks for your comment :)
@rolling stone...yes..that shld be the attitude..BUT again well done is something that removes the past agony..goals should strive towards it!!

@IRFANUDDIN...thanks for ur comment..i agree!!

@Dr anthony ..lovely words!

@thinking..yaaa..true..very well said!!
